With this amazing, life changing and FUN project, so far we've:
Now we were on a mission -- to buy a pig (pregnant if possible).

We drove up to a small village in the mountains above Panajachel, then walked to the house where the pigs were:
Lots of corn... the staple of Guatemala.
This is the pig for sale. She's not pregnant, but she is in heat... that's a plus!
The kids had fun with chickens, and swings and things...
We decide to get the pig... since she's in heat, we're going to take her to get impregnanted... 🙂
As we walk out toward the road, we check out the neighbors... and the nasty dogs.
Cute little boy... nasty puppy 😛
Next stop is EFA -- an agriculture school above Solola, where the boar awaits.
He's as big as a horse!
She just wants to lay in the mud...
And he just wants to eat...
He does finally get interested, but he's so HUGE that he smashes her, and they don't get anything accomplished (you'll have to watch the video below for more fun information about that.)
So we put her next door with the other, younger, inexperienced boar.
He has no idea what to do (even though we played Elton John to set the mood -- it's in the video)...
Since we couldn't get any impregnation going on, we bought a baby pig instead. Now the farm will have two. And we'll have to try breeding again next month -- see if they can figure things out then. 😉
Check out the video! I bet you don't have this much fun on school field trips back home 😉
Thank you so much to all our generous donors. This wouldn't be possible without you!
