We were invited to stay at a family's home in Flagstaff, and they took us to a nearby attraction - Lava River Cave.

Formed by a lava flow who-knows-how-long-ago, what's left is less than a mile long, underground tunnel of varying height, jagged, rocky floor, and a year round temp of about 41 degrees.

Pitch black and very cool (with both meanings intended), we had a bit of adventure. We 'lost' our husbands for awhile (how do you lose someone in a cave that only goes two directions?) and Greg got quite the workout carrying two kids, once Aaliyah's legs were 'too tired'.

These photos were taken by our friend Andy Zalit.

I’ve take the Young Men to the Lava Tubes twice since we have lived here. It is a really cool. Do you guys geocache at all while you’re traveling? You really should. You should leave your mark in each country through geocaching.

We haven’t actually tried it yet, though several people have mentioned it to us. I guess we should check it out 🙂
