One thing I remember being huge in Alaska were the veggies in the gardens when we visited during July. The days were so long in the summer, I guess, that the plants really thrived.
Yep, the summer is short, but the days are sooooo long, that the veggies get plenty of sunlight. I think I read that the biggest veggies in the world grow some place in Alaska.
